"A SIRENS CALL TO ARMS" is a tale of Clare Moore's experience as a musician, playing in a bar on some long forgotten asteroid, keeping herself steeled for combat and life (it seems to be the same thing) with images of other female musician heroes in her mind. A kind of Empress's Guard,

taking over my controls
when the G force defeats me
landing her safely as the cymbal decays
Their songs hang in the air
they serve to remind me
the great are not always heard
and sometimes not even seen
guarding my right to play
and wishing they could do it too
